2021 Bachelder “Bator” Gamay-Pinot Noir PTSG
Ontario, Niagara-on-the-Lake, VQA Four Mile Creek
66% Gamay, 34% Pinot Noir | Dry | 12.5% ABV
92pts Carl's Wine Club
From the Single Vineyard Bator on the Four Mile Creek sub-appellation in Niagara-on-the-Lake, the classic Burgundian “field blend” of two thirds Gamay and one third Pinot Noir delivers a fresh and lively red blend with loads of red and blue fruits and mouth watering acidity. On the nose, aromas of cassis, ripe raspberry, red currant, dry basil, violets and dark chocolate announce an easy going and approachable wine. On the palate, the Gamay stands out on the front and mid-palate with blueberry, cassis, raspberry and pepper, while the Pinot Noir shines on the back-end and the finish with underlying dark berries, wild flower and mushroom components, mingled with oak spices, and a sense of finesse that I find only in Pinot Noir...
