Most of the fruits for this rare Okanagan Malbec come from the River Stone Estate River Vineyard in Oliver, aged for 14 months in French oak barrels with one third new barrels to bring added layers, structure and complexity. The nose delivers some very classic Malbec notes dominated by the floral component, but also dark fruits like crushed blackberry and black currant. Lots of oak spices come up on the nose but also a hint of dried herbs and pencil lead… yesss, the same pencil lead found in the Malbec rose from this winery. The palate matches the nose to a T, also offering great texture and bright acidity. This wine is highlighted by a great tannic structure, and will age gracefully.
